A Missouri infant in need of a life-saving liver found a match in one of her relatives who lives in New Jersey.
The 6-month-old baby Eden was diagnosed with a fatal condition called biliary atresia that impacts about one in 12,000 newborns.
Eden’s cousin-in-law, who lives in New Jersey with her three kids, found out she was the perfect match and flew to Missouri to help save the baby’s life.
According to the National Institutes of Health, surgeons remove the diseased liver and replace it with the part from the living donor.
Both are now recovering from the successful surgery.
