An Emerson woman has been missing for more than a week, and now a woman who claims she?s Liza Murphy?s best friend is begging her to come home.
Donna Woods says she has known the missing woman for 27 years. She says the day she found out Murphy was missing was one of the worst days of her life.
?It?s the furthest thing from happy. I mean, I wake up thinking of Liza, I go to bed praying for Liza and now Joe and their children, especially their children,? Woods says.
Officials say Murphy, a mother of three, disappeared on August 19 after an argument with her husband, Joe. Police say Joe tried to commit suicide days after Liza went missing by jumping into the path of a Westwood fire official?s car. Through an attorney, Joe claimed he had nothing to do with his wife?s disappearance.
Police say Joe is not talking to detectives.
Emerson police launched a massive search to find Liza, but came up empty and called off the search Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Woods offered this message to her friend, hoping she?s able to hear it.
?I love you Liza. I love you more than anything. You know that. Come home?call?anything?something.?
Police have no suspects in the case. Anyone with information should call the Emerson Police Department at (201) 262-2800.
