A Middletown man has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for starting a fire at an apartment complex that eventually damaged 10 units.
Larry Hickmon, 30, pleaded guilty to arson.
Authorities say Hickmon allegedly assaulted his girlfriend in an apartment last May and then started the fire after she fled.
Hickmon later admitted to police he knew there were other residents in the complex when he started the fire.
After he completes his sentence, Hickmon will be on probation for five years.
District attorney Dave Hoovler said Hickmon’s crime was domestic violence-related and that Hickmon pleadED guilty to the highest charge, which is considered a violent felony.
