Mayor Eric Adams announced Tuesday two new staff members who will closely work with him in his administration.
Sheila Wright will be the new first deputy mayor, and Camille Joseph Varlack will serve as senior adviser to the mayor and chief of staff. They are replacing First Deputy Mayor Lorraine Grillo and Chief of Staff Frank Carone following planned departures.
Adams praised both Grillo and Carone for their level of expertise and knowledge, stressing Wright and Varlak have big shoes to fill.
Wright and Varlak will assume their new roles in January.
