Two members of the Jersey City Police Department have tested positive for coronavirus, according to Mayor Steve Fulop.
The mayor says one precinct is currently closed for deep cleaning and sanitation.
He says there are cases in both the east and west district.
News 12 is told one of the patients, who works in the east district, last had contact with someone March 10. Officials say five people came into close contact with the individual.
All six people have been quarantined.
In the west district, the second patient last had contact with someone March 13. There were three individuals who came into close contact with the patient.
All four people in that case are quarantined. That precinct is also closed for cleaning.
The city is also changing some protocols for police departments.
Officials haven't confirmed either patients' condition. A third person was tested; their results are pending.
