A manhunt for a suspect in Somerset County ended in an arrest near a suburban townhouse complex.
The early morning police chase ended at the Manors Townhouses off Route 206 just around 9 a.m. Thursday.
Police say that the chase started after the suspects crashed what is believed to be a stolen gray Jeep Grand Cherokee into a tree near the complex. It appears that the man escaped into the woods.
A state police helicopter was called in, along with Hillsborough and Somerset County police offices to help in the search.
“It was like 7 a.m. and I was asleep. All of a sudden, I feel like I’m hearing a jet above me. I’m thinking there’s bombs going off or something,” says Hillsborough resident Jake Laifer.
The suspect was apprehended a few hours later.
“Hillsborough is a very safe town. My son comes to school here in the area. I enjoy this town very much and I know as far as I know there’s never been an issue like this before,” says resident Michael Perez.
It was not immediately clear what charges the suspect, who was not identified, would face.
