(AP) - A school board member accused of sexually assaulting a 19-year-old man over the Labor Day weekend plans to plead not guilty.
Joseph Tringali made his initial court appearance on Wednesday. He will remain jailed until at least Monday, when a detention hearing is expected to be held.
The 47-year-old Manalapan resident is charged aggravated sexual assault. His lawyer, Richard Lomurro, told the
Asbury Park Press that his client will plead not guilty.
Monmouth County prosecutors have not disclosed details about the incident that led to the charge being filed.
Tringali serves on the Manalapan-Englishtown Regional Board of Education. He also is vice president and chaplain for the Manalapan Township-Englishtown Volunteer First Aid Squad.
