An NJ Transit bus crashed into a home near Route 4 in Englewood early Thursday morning, sending the driver to the hospital.

According to NJ Transit officials, the incident happened at about 5:45 a.m., shortly after a bus on the 166 line left the Oradell garage. The bus, which was just starting its route for the day, was heading to Van Nostrand Avenue and Grand Avenue.

Officials said the bus “made contact with a home in the vicinity of Route 4 near Grand Avenue.”

A spokesperson for NJ Transit said there were no customers on the bus at the time. The bus driver was transported to a local hospital. His exact injuries are not yet known.

The owner of the home told News 12 there was no one in the house at the time of the crash. The house was being used as an Airbnb until about a month ago, the owner said.

The cause of the incident remains under investigation.
