A member of the Manalapan Board of Education is accused of sexually assaulting a 19-year-old man over the Labor Day holiday weekend.
The Monmouth County prosecutor says that Joseph Tringali, 47, was arrested Thursday afternoon following an “intensive investigation by the Manalapan Township Police Department.”
Details about the alleged assault were not publicly released. But Tringali was charged with first-degree aggravated sexual assault.
Officials say that in addition to being on the Manalapan school board, Tringali also serves as the vice president and chaplain for the Manalapan Township-Englishtown Volunteer First Aid Squad.
Tringali could face up to 20 years in prison if he is convicted of the charges.
