A Belleville man who runs a production company that films youth football games is accused of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old boy on multiple occasions.
The New Jersey Attorney General's Office says that Belleville resident Ethan Chandler, 42, was also pursuing an undercover police officer posing as a teen online.
"While he was still engaging in sex with this 14-year-old victim, he was allegedly pursuing a person, our undercover detective, who he believed to be a 13-year-old boy," says Attorney General Christopher Porrino.
Officials say Chandler posted a graphic and explicit ad on Craigslist looking for a minor. The detective responded, pretending to be a 13-year-old boy.
The detective asked "How young is too young," according to Porrino. Chandler allegedly answered, "don't matter" (sic).
Officials say that while they investigated the Craigslist post they found evidence that Chandler repeatedly sexually assaulted at least one and possibly two 14-year-olds. Authorities say they are concerned that there are more victims.
Chandler has posted bail for the charges that he faces. He is set to face a judge on Dec. 14.
The Attorney General's Office will be holding a workshop for parents to learn how to protect their children from sexual predators. That workshop will be held Dec. 15 at Hendricks Field Golf Course in Belleville.
