A van driver has pleaded guilty to a careless driving charge stemming from a fatal accident at a harvest festival that killed a two-year-old girl.
NJ.com reports that 53-year-old Neil McWilliams of Mount Olive entered his plea Monday night in Hanover Municipal Court and received fines totaling $239.
The October 2014 accident occurred at Alstede Farms in Chester. Investigators concluded that two vans were shuttling passengers from a parking lot at the festival to a nearby train station when one of the vans rolled into the one in front of it.
The girl, her mother and another woman were caught between the vehicles. The women suffered injuries.
McWilliams' lawyer said his client's van was idling, but wasn't in park position. His foot came off the brake and accidentally hit the accelerator.
