A man was injured after his sailboat crashed into a jetty in Manasquan Wednesday afternoon.
According to the lifeguards who helped in the rescue, the driver of the boat was a man who appeared to be in his 60s. He was taken to the hospital with a head injury, but is expected to be OK.
The lifeguards say that the boat appeared to be coming straight in toward the shore and ran aground on the rocks.
Officials say that they believe that the man either fell asleep or passed out prior to the crash. Temperatures were very warm, so there is speculation the man suffered from heat stroke.
Recovery crews were able to remove the boat from the shore late Thursday morning.
