MAYS LANDING, N.J. (AP) - A Staten Island, N.Y., man faces up to10 years in prison following his conviction for biting off part ofa New Jersey police officer's finger.
An Atlantic County jury on Friday convicted Rafael Pichardo ofaggravated assault.
Prosecutors say he bit Atlantic City Police Officer Dean Dooleywhile being arrested in a nightclub at the Trump Taj Mahal CasinoResort in February 2007.
Police were called to the Casbah nightclub when the 30-year-oldPichardo became unruly. He struggled with Dooley and two otherofficers, and bit off part of Dooley's left index finger. Theofficer has since returned to work.
Pichardo will be sentenced July 10.
