The man convicted of killing Bronx teenager Brandon Hendricks in 2020 was sentenced Friday to 25 years in prison.
A jury had found Najhim Luke guilty of first-degree manslaughter and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon back in January.
On June 28, 2020, police say Hendricks was hit by a stray bullet days after he graduated from high school.
Brandon's mother, Eve Hendricks, made an impact statement and addressed Luke in court. She said Luke had a choice and that he took the life of a brother, son, friend, and uncle, adding that her son's college dreams will now never be fulfilled.
"My Brandon, my son has never left me," said Eve Hendricks.
Eve Hendricks tells News 12's Elly Morillo that her work is not done - she plans on fighting back against gun violence in the Bronx community to prevent other young men and women with hopes and dreams from losing their lives too soon.
