A major online outage is hitting college students across Connecticut and the country during finals week, with the academic platform Canvas reporting a possible cyberattack that has taken the system offline.
Students at Yale and Quinnipiac say they’ve been locked out of the platform since early Friday morning. Both universities told students the “global system outage” may have disrupted finals, project submissions and other academic activity. Students at University of New Haven also report problems.
But students say the bigger issue is communication, since Canvas is the primary way professors send updates, assignments and exam instructions. With the system down, many say they’re unsure how to submit work or whether finals will be rescheduled.
