Large waves continue to pound
the Jersey Shore and in some areas, including Bay Head, beach erosion is
threatening to take away just about all of the sand.
A multimillion-dollar replenishment project last year in Bay Head was
supposed to leave the beach with 250 feet of sand.
In less than one year after replenishment, the 250-foot beach was washed
away to 75 feet, and this summer, it actually cost the Bay Head beaches money.
The director of Bay Head's beaches says because of coronavirus
restrictions, they were only allowed to sell so many badges due to social
distancing. Less beach means less blanket space which means less revenue.
