While many New Jersey towns are canceling Fourth of July fireworks, residents won?t have to go far to see one of the biggest fireworks displays in the world.
Macy?s Fourth of July fireworks are moving to the Hudson River, giving the Garden State front-row seats for the show. The move is in celebration of the 400th anniversary of Henry Hudson?s exploration of the river that is now named for him.
Residents will have plenty of viewing space anywhere along the Hudson County waterfront, with 1,500 shells firing per minute at up to 1,000 feet in the air.
Police are recommending using mass transit since many roads will be closed for the event. They also say to expect a lot of officers to be on hand.
