Legislation to authorize sale of recreational marijuana to go before Assembly panel

Legislation that would authorize the legal sale of recreational marijuana is back on track at the New Jersey State House.
A bill is set to go before a state Assembly panel on Thursday. It will decide how high to set the sales tax for legal cannabis and how to regulate the market.
A spokesperson for state Senate President Steve Sweeney says that the Senate Budget Committee will also work on the bill on Wednesday, adding that the full state Senate could vote on it on Monday.
New Jersey residents voted two weeks ago to amend the state constitution to allow the sale of adult-use recreational marijuana.
