It’s the last year for a Bergen County Christmas light display that benefits the American Heart Association.
The display on Evergreen Place in Demarest was created by 17-year-old Daniel Eisenberg when he was a young teenager. It features thousands of Christmas lights that illuminate in to music.
When News 12 New Jersey first interviewed him in 2015, he said that it takes him 15 hours of programming for one song. That year he made eight songs.
The display also benefits the American Heart Association in honor of Eisenberg’s mother who died of a heart attack a few years ago.
“She was very bright. She was like a light bulb, she attracted everyone to her. She was funny, she was amazing. She tried helping everyone and so that's basically why am trying to raise money for the American Heart Association, to help others,” says Eisenberg.
Neighbors say that they look forward to the time when Eisenberg puts the lights up.
But this year is bittersweet as it will be the last time the lights will be displayed in Demarest. Eisenberg and his father are moving to Florida in the next year.
“He always puts so much work into it and I like it. I’ll miss it,” says young Mallory Lapira.
But Eisenberg says that it may not be the complete end of the display. He may continue it in Florida.
“There’s a good chance because it’s a lot warmer than here, so putting up Christmas lights it a lot easier,” he says.
The Demarest display has raised more than $30,000 for the American Heart Association.
