Residents in Lakewood say they are worried about their safety after learning that a woman was almost abducted during the holy days of Yom Kippur.
Police say a woman was walking near Lake Carasaljo Monday night when she was grabbed. They say the attacker tried to pull her into a wooded area before the woman broke free and called 911. Police say the attacker fled on foot.
Diana Segundo, 15, of Lakewood, says that's why she doesn't walk alone.
"Without someone by my side it's very scary, especially around this part," says Segundo. "It's more like near downtown."
Some residents say there needs to be more lighting in areas and more patrols.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Lakewood Police Department.
