An Ocean County health clinic offered senior citizens walk-in COVID-19 vaccine appointments on Tuesday.
Hundreds of people lined up outside CHEMED Health Center in Lakewood, which had about 1,500 doses of the vaccine for Ocean County residents age 65 and older.
Many who stood in line said that this was their only opportunity for getting a vaccine because they couldn’t get it any other way.
"Thankfully we’ve been able to get somewhat of a volume from the state, working very closely with them. They have given us an amount and we said, ‘We have to get our seniors vaccinated,’ and that's what we are doing,” says CHEMED COO Mark Berkowitz.
Any shots that were leftover on Tuesday will be offered for more walk-in appointments on Wednesday.
