A Korean War veteran has been honored more than 60 years after the war.
Congressman Chris Smith presented Miguel Hernandez-Colon with five medals.
Hernandez-Colon served in the 65th infantry, a regiment of 4,000 Puerto Rican soldiers.
The 85-year-old now lives in Hamilton.
His joined him for the honor.
“This is an amazing thing for us, because we've waited so long, it's so emotional because he's already 85 years old and he should have gotten these awards so long ago,” says granddaughter Melissa De Jesus.
Hernandez-Colon was awarded three federal and two state medals, including the Distinguished Service Medal.
