It was wheels-up from Newark this afternoon on a "flying hospital" of sorts.
Kids of Courage, a non-profit organization, left Newark airport today for a nine-day flying excursion. They're taking 150 chronically sick children on a trip to California, no parents allowed.
Instead, the medically supervised "flying hospital" is equipped with vital equipment like oxygen tanks, along with three staffers for every child.
Kids of Courage says the trip is meant to give campers a dream vacation without having to think about their illnesses.
The $1 million trip is paid for entirely by donations.
Campers range in age from 5 to 24.
