The owner of a kickboxing studio in Sussex County is suing Gov. Phil Murphy for damages over the forced shutdown of her business, beginning in March.
The seven-page complaint claims the governor’s executive orders in response to COVID-19 closing gyms, restaurants and other businesses broke the law by taking control of private property without compensating its owners.
The suit doesn't state a dollar amount. Darlene Pallay operates her gym under the name CKO Kickboxing.
The governor's office did not immediately comment.
A federal judge ruled a couple of weeks ago Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf's COVID-19 lockdowns on businesses were unconstitutional.
