A Kane In Your Corner investigation into the practice of pharmaceutical companies paying doctors has caused many News 12 New Jersey viewers to question the practice.

The investigation found that some New Jersey doctors made about $250,000 from drug companies last year. The practice isn't illegal, but some wonder if it is ethical.

One viewer told Kane In Your Corner that she overheard her doctor say that he was getting an all-expenses paid vacation from a company for prescribing their drug. She said that this made her think twice about using the medication.

Other viewers said that they made a point to check out their own physicians to see what types of payments they were receiving.

Doctors aren't required to tell their patients if they are receiving payments from drug companies, but they do have to report it to a database.

A patient can check what payments their doctors receive by checking out the government's Open Payments website.
