Jury selection has begun in the trial of the former Rutgers University student accused of using a webcam to watch part of roommate Tyler Clementi's encounter with another man.
Dharun Ravi is facing 15 charges, including invasion of privacy and hindering prosecution, after Clementi killed himself days after the alleged crime occurred. The most serious charge is bias intimidation, a hate crime punishable by 10 years in prison.
About 2,000 jurors were summoned, but most had conflicts that would prevent them from serving in a trial expected to last three to four weeks. More than 200 were brought to the Middlesex County Courthouse today to start filling out questionnaires.
Opening statements could start as early as Wednesday.
