Needs Clearing House, ABCD help News 12 Connecticut viewers facing hardships: Two families received help from local nonprofits after their stories were told on News 12 Connecticut. Venus Rogers got a new furnace and heating-oil tank through ABCD after going through several winters without a safe heating source. Her daughter, 35-year-old Amber Rogers, has muscular dystrophy.Joe Kaliko at the Needs Clearing House got a car for 21-year-old Jeanna Migliore, who needs transportation so she can take her father to get dialysis.
Police: Man fatally struck by tractor-trailer on I-87 in Sloatsburg: Police say a man was fatally struck by a tractor-trailer on I-87 in Sloatsburg Saturday night. Officials say the victim had just been in an accident and was ejected onto the highway after his car hit a guardrail.They say he was hit by the tractor-trailer around 11 p.m.

Police: Officers shoot, kill armed man in East NorthportOfficials say one person is dead following a police-involved shooting Sunday night in East Northport. According to police, a 911 call was received around 10 p.m. reporting a domestic incident at a home on Grant Street.Police say when they responded, a male resident of the home pointed what appeared to be a rifle at them and threatened to shoot numerous times.
Report: Majority of NYPD mistreatment complaints come from youth of color: A new report put out by the Civilian Complaint Review Board shows majority of complaints about officers’ mistreatment of youth stem from encounters with youth of color. The report has been released in the midst of protests calling for more police accountability across the city and country. The majority of the complaints documented are from Brooklyn.
