Preston Taylor, who admitted to being an accomplice in the robbery and slaying of Sarah Stern, will remain in prison for the rest of his 18-year sentence.
A judge upheld the ruling on Friday after Taylor tried to get his sentence reduced.
The judge defended his initial decision, despite the fact that the term was longer than prosecutors recommended.
He says the term was within the 10 to 20-year range of Taylor's plea deal.
