A judge today refused to dismiss the indictment of a teenager in a brutal Colts Neck attack.
Brennan Doyle was 17 at the time of the stabbing in Colts Neck. He is being tried as an adult for attempted murder and carjacking. Doyle is accused of stabbing a woman multiple times at her home in 2013 and stealing her car.
"I don't feel that the instructions were blatantly wrong in any fashion rendered what the grand jury was instructed to do here or did to be unfair or lacking in any impartiality," says Judge Francis Vernoia.
Doyle's attorneys plan to argue the teen was so intoxicated that he had diminished capacity.
The victim was left in critical condition, but she has since recovered from her injuries.
