Actor and comedian Joe Piscopo is serious when he says he's considering a run for New Jersey governor in 2017.
He says he's been meeting with Republican county officials and lawmakers to feel out his prospects.
He says he would likely run as a Republican in 2017, but isn't ruling out jumping in as an independent after the June 6 primary.
Piscopo has never campaigned for or held office, but considered running in 2004, telling CNN that he loved the state enough to run, though he never did.
A Donald Trump supporter, Piscopo says he feels emboldened to consider his own run because of the Republican's success.
