Some Jersey Shore towns are taking precautions as they monitor Hurricane Isaias' path.
While the track of the storm is uncertain, officials in Seaside Heights say they are preparing for the worst and hoping for the best.
"Our OEM, Office of Emergency Management, has been monitoring through tracking and working with the Ocean County Office of Emergency," says Seaside Heights Mayor Anthony Vaz.
Vaz says planning has been underway for a few days. If it looks like severe weather could hit Seaside Heights, a reverse 911 call will be made to all residents.
"It says winds are going to be this. We suggest you buckle down anything that is outside. Make sure your car is on a high level," Vaz says.
If officials deem it necessary, shelters will open throughout the area. Because of COVID-19, masks would be required inside and social distancing policies would be followed. Additional shelters would also open throughout the area to prevent crowding.
"We will have both emergency housing in town and across the bridge through the county if it becomes that severe like Sandy, which I am hoping it doesn't," Vaz says.
He says the only silver lining is that the storm is expected to hit earlier in the week, when there are far fewer people in the area. Vaz adds that that is also when business is slower for local shops that are already struggling due to the pandemic.
