‘Stand Your Ground’ bill introduced in New Jersey
7h agoSusan McCartney was sworn in as the first female mayor to lead West Orange.
The historic event was coupled with more Jersey Proud history at the swearing in.
McCartney had a photo taken with town historian Joe Fagan.
Behind them in the photo is a flag that's now on display for the first time in over 90 years. It's the flag which draped the coffin of Thomas Edison at his funeral in 1931.

The Annin company in Verona made the flag.
It was kept by the family of one-time West Orange Mayor Bernard Degnan.
The family passed it onto Fagan who made sure McCartney's history was marked with a historic West Orange flag which met the moment.
