Jersey Proud: Starfleet ship New Jersey boldly going in 'Star Trek: Picard'

A Starfleet museum of ships was featured in the episode, and for the first time in any "Star Trek" television show's history, there was a starship called New Jersey.

New Jersey "Star Trek" fans were fired up this week when they tuned into the Paramount Plus streaming spin-off series "Star Trek: Picard" and saw something very Jersey Proud.
A Starfleet museum of ships was featured in the episode, and for the first time in any "Star Trek" television show's history, there was a starship called New Jersey.
The ship got about two seconds of screen time during the episode. Nevertheless, viewers could make out the letters that read "New Jersey" on the front of the ship.
The ship was courtesy of accomplished showrunner for the Picard series and Raritan native Terry Matalas. At some point during all his television shows and productions, he goes out of his way to make sure there is a New Jersey reference, So for "Star Trek: Picard," he named a starship after his home state.
