A group of Girl Scouts in North Jersey is trying to help Haiti following August's devastating earthquake.
Troop 95817 in Englewood had been collecting supplies for the people of Haiti for over a year because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but the 7.2 magnitude earthquake on Aug. 14 added to the urgency.
So they put up flyers around town asking residents to donate what they could as the troop would take care of the rest.
In just one day, they put together over 100 personal kits with items like toothpaste, soap, hand sanitizer and masks.
The girls coordinated with the group Unspoken Smiles to get the material to Haiti.
For their efforts, the ten girls in the troop received the Girl Scout Bronze Award, one of the organization's highest honors.
