A hiker and his dog are safe thanks to the effort of two New Jersey state troopers.
The pair got lost while hiking off Yellow Frame Road in Fredon Township. They became trapped on a steep incline and had to hold on to a tree to keep from falling.
One of the troopers was lowered by a rope to the bottom of the cliff to help bring the hiker and the dog back up to the top.
Troopers Sean Sullivan and Russel Cahn had to walk a mile into the woods to get to the hiker. They spent nearly two hours in the rain with firefighters, working to get the pair to safety.
