The Jersey Pride Festival was held Sunday in Asbury Park.
The 28th annual parade was held at noon at Main Street and Cookman Avenue.
"Pride is important because it's about visibility," says Christian Fuscarino of Garden State Equality. "LGBTQ people are invisible in a lot of spaces and this is a festival, a month, a community, to come together and be visible."
Garden State Equality held a celebration before the parade at the Johnny Mac House of Spirits. One of the initiatives the organization is spearheading is building trust between law enforcement and the LGBTQ community.
People say the event is to show support and be proud of who you are.
Gov. Phil Murphy attended the festival last year.
