People living in Jersey City are taking action to improve their neighborhoods.
A new budget pilot program lets voters pick how $50,000 would be used for each of the six city wards.
The approved plans include family literacy programs, computer workshops and park and playground improvements.
Mayor Steven Fulop said in a statement, "With this Participatory Budget Pilot, our goal was to engage residents and get them more directly involved so that we can best meet the community's needs while simultaneously giving them the tools to understand the entire process better. The results exceeded our expectations."
