A man says he was walking his dog in Jersey City when two would-be robbers attempted to take his money and then his dog.
The victim says that when the suspects realized they weren't going to get cash out of the deal, they attempted to take his Jack Russell terrier, Bailey. They grabbed the dog's leash, but the victim says he was able to pick up his dog and run.
It's not the first canine-involved crime reported in Jersey City this week. Reports indicate that during a carjacking in the Newport neighborhood, a victim left a pet dog in the passenger seat. When the victim in that case asked for the dog back, the carjacker let the dog out.
