The Jackson Township Board of Education says it is suing both the state and the state Board of Education.
The announcement comes as the district approves the closure of one school and the redistricting of others.
McAuliffe Middle School will close, Goetz Middle School will include upper elementary school students up to sixth grade and Jackson Liberty will be the district’s sole high school.
School board officials say they were forced to make the move because the district has lost more than half of its state aid and enrollment has dropped more than 15%.
The school changes are expected to begin in September.
