Halloween is just around the corner and that means taking time to tour some of the Garden State’s spookiest locations.

One place in New Milford is doling out lots of scares.

“The Nightmare on River Road is a true haunted house,” says founder John O’Malley.

The experience began four year ago, when “My crazy husband decided this was a great idea for a fundraiser,” says coordinator Janine O’Malley.

The haunted house tour offers 60 scary characters through an 8,000-square foot building, decorated by experts.

“I’ve been producing high school musicals for years. Designing sets for years,” says staff member Jim Africano.

The program is all run by volunteers. Proceeds go towards charity.
