With just about a week until FIFA World Cup games come to MetLife Stadium, the MTA announced travel plans to accommodate fans and New Yorkers on Thursday.

The MTA says they're expecting more than a million visitors to come to New York City for the event. As a result, the organization says it's providing additional service on match days.

To get fans to and from trains and shuttle buses to games, there will be extra local service on the C, F, and 1 lines.

The 1 and C trains will be running more frequently on weekend match days, and all three lines will have increased service to aid post-match travel.

There will also be a gridlock alert on match days to discourage any unnecessary travel into Midtown and encourage people to use public transportation.

Some matchdays, like on June 16, will overlap with a Yankees home game and the potential for a Knicks NBA Final at Madison Square Garden.

While city officials say they're also stepping up security and safety measures, commuters like Denys Kolomiiets say it's going to be a hectic time.

"I was thinking that it's going to be probably insane this entire summer, again with the World Cup. And that's going to be so many tourists just coming here. And then NBA finals, which I'm excited for. But yeah, also the city is going to be crazy for like the next week," said Kolomiiets.

New Yorkers can text SUMMER26 to 692-692 to get emergency alerts and updates on summer events.
