A series of crimes this past weekend left eight people shot, one fatally, and three others stabbed in Irvington. Now, the police director is sorting out the details for the victims? families.
Gary Ferrar Jr., 22, was killed in drive-by shooting that left two others injured Sunday morning. Gary Ferrar Sr., the victim?s father, is questioning why it took so long for EMTs to arrive to the scene and help his son. Ferrar Sr. claims it took the ambulance 20 minutes to a half hour to arrive.
Irvington Police Director Mike Damiano is investigating Ferrar Sr.?s claims.
?At this point, the initial investigation shows they may have responded, determined that there was nothing further they could do for the shooting victim and may have left as a result of a crime scene being established,? Damiano says.
A spokesperson for Monoc EMS, the contracted ambulance company that responded to the scene, says the company?s records indicate 11 minutes passed between the phone call and their arrival to aid Ferrar Jr.
Damiano and Irvington Mayor Wayne Smith met with Ferrar Jr.?s parents in private Monday to discuss the incident.
Meanwhile, only one arrest has been made in the weekend crime spree.
