IRS says more people are filing taxes for free. Here’s how

Taxpayers need to make less than 79,000 per year to be eligible to free file.

Over 940,000 people are filing their taxes for free, according to the Internal Revenue Service.

The agency says the use of IRS Direct File, its “free file” system, is up almost 10% from last year.

Taxpayers need to make less than $79,000 per year to be eligible to free file.
