? Health inspectors descended on a South Plainfield Taco Bell Monday morning amid a dangerous outbreak of E. coli.
At least 22 people have become sick, including young children, from the bacteria. Middlesex County health inspectors met with individuals, possibly Taco Bell store managers, to determine if the South Plainfield restaurant is the cause of the outbreak. One woman who works nearby, who did not want to show her face on camera or give her name, tells News 12 New Jersey she became ill after recently eating at the facility. However, she claims restaurant workers brushed her aside when she raised concerns.
A spokesperson for Taco Bell says the South Plainfield location passed inspection about a week ago. At least two of the people sickened ate at other Taco Bells in Edison and in Franklin. Meanwhile, at least 14 people on Long Island have come down with E. coli that may also be linked to Taco Bell restaurants.
