Incumbents sweep races in New Jersey's first almost all-mail primary
New Jersey Democratic Reps. Josh Gottheimer and Bill Pascrell emerged victorious on Thursday in their primary contests.
The Associated Press called the races two days after the first-ever nearly all-mail statewide primary. Their victories mean that no incumbent facing a primary lost.
Gottheimer represents the 5th District, which includes Bergen, Passaic, Sussex and Warren counties. He defeated Arati Kreibich, a scientist and Glen Rock council member.
Pascrell represents the 9th District, made up of parts of Bergen, Hudson and Passaic counties. He defeated Zinovia Spezakis, who ran on Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders’ Not Me, Us, platform, as well as Alp Basaran, of Fort Lee.
