Tuesday marked a major milestone for New Jersey music as Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band's legendary album "Born to Run" marked its 40th anniversary.
The iconic album was released on Aug. 25, 1975. It was the third album released by the band and the one that catapulted them into superstardom.
On his website, Springsteen released a statement about the anniversary saying, "I want to thank all the fans for making this music theirs and for celebrating this very special day with us!"
All over New Jersey, Springsteen fans were reflecting on the music and what it means to New Jersey.
"Obviously 'Born to Run' changed everyone's life," says Belmar resident Bob Brand.
"'Born to Run' when Bruce gets in car and drives out of town, he's taking us with him on his journey to the future and he never stops," says Eileen Chapman, Director of the Bruce Springsteen Collection, an archive of more than 20,000 Springsteen-related documents and recordings for researchers and fans.
The album has sold more than 6 million copies worldwide.
