A Norwalk woman is in the fight of her life with stage 2 breast cancer, and doctors say that breast cancer is the most common cause of cancer-related deaths among Hispanic women in Connecticut.
Janet Torres says she was first diagnosed in 2002 and beat cancer, but it came back in 2012 and is now in the center of her chest.
She says she has to wear a brace because the cancer is affecting one of her main nerves. Torres goes for chemotherapy treatments at Saint Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport every month.
She says living with cancer has been very scary.
"I want to live and go on with my life," Torres says.
Dr. Sara Dost, of the Hartford Healthcare Cancer Institute at St. Vincent's Medical Center, says it's important to educate women like Torres - who is doing her best to survive every day.
