Hundreds of New Jersey residents worked Saturday to clean up the streets and buildings of Newark as part of Prudential's Annual Global Volunteer Day.
Among the dozens of projects throughout the city was the renovation to Wynona's House, a refuge for abused children. Volunteers constructed new rooms, benches and painted calming murals on the walls.
Dozens of volunteers also worked for hours to restore pathways, plant seeds and pull weeds at the Greater Newark Conservancy.
Tens of thousands of people participated in more than 800 projects worldwide as part of Global Volunteer Day.
