A Burlington City man has been charged in the fatal shooting of another Burlington City resident in Edgewater Park six years ago, authorities announced Friday.

Jevon Mobley, 32, is charged with murder, conspiracy, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, according to the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office and Edgewater Park Township Police Department.

Mobley was served with the warrant Thursday while incarcerated in the Burlington County Jail in Mount Holly on unrelated charges. A detention hearing is scheduled for next week, and the case will be presented to a grand jury for possible indictment.

The investigation began June 11, 2020, after police responded to the Orchard Park apartment complex on Woodlane Road at about 11:15 p.m. for a report of a shooting. Officers found Damian Hampton, 27, of Burlington City, in the street with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead about an hour later at Virtua Hospital Willingboro.

Prosecutors said the charges were filed after recently received ballistic evidence prompted a detailed review of the case.
