The recent mysterious drone sightings along the East Coast have made their way to the Hudson Valley.
Local lawmakers say they have been receiving calls about sightings in the area.
Westchester County Executive George Latimer says he sent a letter to President Joe Biden this week. Latimer says, "This issue is not an issue that can be resolved in town hall, or village hall or city hall, it cannot be resolved here in the county government nor even in the halls in our state government, this is an intra state reality and it does require the federal government to step forward and use the resources that it has."
In Orange County, drone sightings caused Stewart Airport to shut down for at least an hour last week. Officials there have launched a multi-agency surveillance operation to better monitor drones in their area. They've even asked the public to ground all personal drones for at least 2 days to help with their efforts.
Tuesday the feds said they attribute the recent drone sightings to a combination of commercial and law enforcement drones, hobbyists as well as planes, or helicopters in some cases, and there is no threat to public safety.
